What we do
Lions Australia has a proud history of achievement in Disaster and Emergency Relief, Medical Research and Community Service. We were at the coalface for Cyclone Tracy, the Black Saturday bushfires and the Queensland floods.
We were involved with the development of the bionic ear and the cervical cancer vaccine Gardasil, developed by Prof Ian Frazer AC, a former Lions Medical Research Foundation Fellow. We also inspired a young Fred Hollows and continue to provide funding for a range of other research initiatives involving diabetes and autism.
We assist with local community fundraising for special causes and help with the development and building of local parks, community venues, and sporting centres.

Lions Clubs work together to support emergencies and natural disasters in Australia and overseas.
We hope you will be interested and inquire about these activities.
We welcome your interest and invite you to support the work of the foundations or other activities by donating, taking part in activities, or by expressing an interest in joining a Lions Club to help us continue and grow our work and our funding of emergency assistance to affected communities.

Lions have always been a part of emergency support within Australia. Whether it be by providing direct help as members of the local bushfire brigade or SES, helping out as tradespeople in rebuilding efforts, providing food, clothing and a friendly face to emergency workers; or raising dollars to help local communities recover – Lions are there.
The Lions Alert program is about Lions being organised and available to help out where needed.
